(Boston, MA) Following on the success of dinners held in San Francisco and Seattle earlier this year, Building Engines hosted their New York city event at Valbella Ristorante in the meat packing district on Tuesday, April 21st. The featured guest speakers were David Djaha, Chairman of the Americas Real Estate Group and Sally King, Chief Operating Officer from the global law firm, Clifford Chance, LLP. Ms. King & Mr. Dhaha delivered a compelling presentation on the impact of the economy on space needs of professional service firms such as theirs and how they are reacting by re-evaluating their needs, actively participating in the sublease market and working with landlords and lenders in these uncharted waters. They were able to also provide a unique perspective as both major occupants of prime office space and advisors to landlords in their real estate transactions. The presentation was followed by an excellent dinner and lively conversation among our guests and speakers including senior representatives from Citigroup, Building Land Technology, Terra Capital, L&L Holdings, Grubb-Ellis, Massey-Knakal and others. The intimate setting as well as varying perspectives and viewpoints of the diverse audience helped assure that everyone took away something of value from the evening and created an excellent networking opportunity.
