Winners, Nominees Recognized as Commercial Real Estate’s Champions for Tireless Pandemic Response

Selected from a pool of nearly 90 finalists across two categories, Teresa Carlisle of Highwoods Properties, Inc. and Robert Washington from Encore Commercial, LLC were voted as this year’s winners by the greater community of CRE professionals and tenants in the Management Hero and Maintenance Hero categories, respectively.
For this year’s awards, Building Engines asked property management teams to nominate peers who have surpassed expectations while managing the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the CRE industry. While many people now work from the safety of their homes, buildings’ essential workers and property management teams don’t have that luxury. This year’s nominees in the Management Hero category show great passion, professionalism and progressive thinking in day-to-day operations management, spearheading new ways to improve operational efficiency and tenant satisfaction. They have shown commitment and leadership to combatting the new challenges COVID-19 has created for management teams.

In the Maintenance Hero category, nominated individuals consistently exceed expectations, embodying passion, professionalism and progressive thinking in handling day-to-day building operations tasks, while delivering fast and efficient service. They have shown commitment to keeping properties running efficiently by tackling new challenges the global pandemic has created.
Likewise, Washington, a true professional, was recognized as a joy to work with at Encore. He has not tried to cut corners and is always looking out for the ownership’s interest in each asset, even if it means getting up at 4 a.m. to complete an equipment maintenance check.
By communicating with tenants clearly and proactively, embracing improvements while ensuring preventative maintenance is top-notch and managing vendors and service providers, these Property Heroes, like many owners and operators, have been instrumental in keeping buildings open for essential workers, while preparing for re-occupancy of the larger workforce.
