Paradise Island Marine Park at the Century Global Center in Chengdu, ChinaThink your commercial real estate property can be a challenge to manage? Imagine running the world’s biggest freestanding building – The New Century Global Center in Chengdu, China. Measuring 1.9 million square meters in size, this architectural giant is features offices, hotels, two malls, 14 IMAX screens, a regulation-size ice skating rink, entertainment facilities, and a giant artificial beach.

NY Daily News noted that the structure is so big “that it could house three U.S. Pentagons, four Vatican Cities, or 20 Sydney Opera Houses.”

The indoor beach features a 300-meter-long coastline with a 150-meter LED screen offering the illusion of a horizon, complete with sunsets, Springwise.com reported. It’s all part of Paradise Island Marine Park, which also boasts a hot spring pool, water shows, water slides and a food court, among other amenities. Bonus: all the water is heated – not that vacationers need it. The complex has an artificial sun that provides sunshine and heat 24 hours a day.

The main activity at what officials hope will become one of the world’s leading tourist destinations is shopping, NY Daily News reported. “Retail space comprises the bulk of the building’s 420 acres of floor space, roughly the equivalent of 329 football fields,” the site added.

Here’s hoping they have a good PM program in place!
